Robyn Banker, NCC, LPC

Robyn Banker is a National Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor with 8 years of post-masters’ experience providing mental health counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, and families.  Robyn earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from William Paterson University.

Robyn has worked for several non-profits in New Jersey and has experience in child and adolescent behavioral health, trauma-informed care, foster care and adoption, family therapy, DCP&P-involvement, and caregiver support, working primarily in partnership with the Department of Children and Families (DCF).  Robyn has assisted her clients in successfully managing challenges such as depression, anxiety, anger management difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, foster care placement, adoption, behavioral difficulties, family dynamics, and coping with significant life changes and transitions, among others.  Robyn’s passion is working with clients who have experienced trauma, helping them to learn coping skills and effective communication strategies to be able to talk about and process their experiences and understand the impact that trauma can have on many aspects of a person’s life.  Robyn has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, including knowledge of mindfulness and DBT strategies, ADHD, self-esteem issues, social skills, and play therapy.

Robyn believes that all individuals have the capacity to make positive changes in their lives and adopts a strengths-based approach to psychotherapy.  Robyn integrates a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques based upon her clients’ needs and takes particular care to build a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients.  Robyn takes a person-centered approach to her work and believes that with a strong therapeutic alliance, growth and change are always possible.
