Miki Nishimura, LSW
Miki graduated from Montclair State University earning a bachelor’s degree in family and child studies, with a family services concentration. She completed her graduate work from Ramapo College of New Jersey in social work, magna cum laude, and is a member of Phi Alpha Honor Society for Social Work. She is a licensed social worker and holds a certification as a school social worker.
Miki has passion and experience working with groups and individuals of all ages; however, she has a specialty with the adolescent population and adults with severe psychiatric illnesses. In addition to working at Tri-County Behavioral Care as a supervised psychotherapist and IIC master-level therapist, she is currently working at New Jersey’s top-rated hospital, Morristown Medical Center, on their inpatient psychiatric unit, as a clinician. Miki also has years of experience working with adults who have developmental/intellectual disabilities at Center for Humanistic Change of NJ.
Each client is given careful consideration as to the best course of treatment, tailored to their specific needs. Research informed practice is utilized, with therapeutic techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and structural family therapy.
