Debra is a dual licensed therapist as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor (LCADC). She graduated from Montclair State University with a Master’s Degree in Counseling specializing in substance abuse and has over 10 years of experience working with pre-adolescents, adolescents, and adults. Debra has worked in numerous levels of care including psych hospitals, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, crisis centers, and inpatient rehab/detox programs. Her focus is helping clients build on their strengths, healing the mind and body connection, empowerment, and encouraging her patients to sustain healthy improvements in their lives. She has experience assisting clients with co-occurring depression, anxiety, crisis intervention, codependency, self-injurious behaviors, anger management, stress management, poor self esteem, trauma, and grief/loss issues.
Debra takes an eclectic therapeutic approach by integrating techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy(DBT), strength-based therapy (SBT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing and seeking safety. She fosters change and personal growth by providing a compassionate, caring, and a nonjudgmental environment for her clients to feel safe so they can explore their issues.
