Caneel is a Licensed Associate Counselor in the state of New Jersey and a National Certified Counselor through the National Board for Certified Counselors. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Communications followed by a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from William Paterson University.
Prior to joining Tri-County, Caneel supported a diverse college student population in an outpatient setting. She has worked with a wide range of mental health concerns including, but not limited to depression, anxiety, adjustment/life transitions, stress management, self-esteem, eating/body image, trauma, and grief.
Caneel aligns with a person-centered approach and incorporates aspects of acceptance and commitment therapy and psychodynamic theory in treatment. She seeks to provide a collaborative, safe, non-judgmental therapeutic space rooted in compassion and personalized care. She believes that difficult life stressors should not be faced alone, and that counseling can provide you with the tools and insight needed to create positive change.
